Popular Fortnite and Twitch streamer Chica has revealed shocking footage of thieves armed with a hammer breaking into her home and attempting to steal her cars. The incident, which occurred early on March 14 in Ontario, Canada, has left the streamer shaken but thankfully unharmed.
Chica’s Growing Online Influence π With over 2.4 million followers on Twitch, 7 million on TikTok, and a strong presence across social media platforms, Chica has built a massive fanbase. Her following continues to grow, as she shares not only gaming content but glimpses into her personal life and experiences.
The Shocking Break-In Incident π¨
Chica, who was in her streaming room at the time, heard a loud bang. Initially, she thought it was a noise made by her partner, Alyssa, but soon realized it was a group of thieves breaking into her home. In a chilling video shared on Twitter/X, the footage shows one of the thieves smashing the front door glass with a hammer, while masked intruders storm into her property. The thieves then demanded car keys from Chica.
“Give us the keys,” one of the men demanded. Chica recalls, “At first, I was like, βI donβt know where the keys are,β then I just kind of put my hands up. The guy did not like that and charged at me with a hammer.β
Chica recalls the terrifying moment: βIβm thinking, ‘How hard am I going to get hit right now?’ I was so scared, I thought Iβd end up in the hospital.β
The Attempted Car Theft ππ₯
Despite the thieves getting hold of the car keys, the high-end vehicles parked outside were not easily stolen. Chica revealed that the cars had secondary theft prevention measures in place, preventing the thieves from starting them.
“Even though they had the keys, they couldnβt start the cars. Thatβs because I had taken extra measures to secure them,” Chica explained in her footage.
While the thieves were unsuccessful in their attempt, the experience has been a traumatizing ordeal for Chica.
Chica Shares Footage on TikTok, Seeks Help in Identifying Thieves π₯π΅οΈββοΈ
In an emotional TikTok posted later that day, Chica detailed the harrowing break-in. She shared additional footage asking her followers for help in identifying the thieves.
“I went outside my streaming room and saw five men. As soon as they saw me, they started asking, βWhereβs the keys?β” Chica explained, noting how she told them where the keys were before they quickly fled the scene.
She further described feeling a mix of fear and anxiety, knowing that while the thieves had the keys, they wouldnβt be able to start the vehicles. She continued calling 911 while watching the thieves escape in a vehicle. The video showed one of them trying to start the car, which had been rigged with additional security measures.
βI canβt give you the keys. Youβll have to hack the car!β one of the thieves can be heard saying as they fumbled with the car outside Chicaβs home.
Despite her fear, Chica remained brave, calling for her followers to help identify the man seen in the footage. She described him as nervous, with two tattoos, believing that someone might recognize him.
No Arrests Yet: Authorities Continue Investigation π
As of now, no arrests have been made, and there are no known suspects. Chica expressed her ongoing shock and trauma but assured her fans that she would continue processing the event. She hinted at possibly needing to leave the area for some time to regain a sense of security.
A Disturbing Trend in Violent Attacks on Streamers π΄β οΈ
This frightening incident is part of a growing trend of violent attacks targeting content creators. Just days earlier, Amouranth was the victim of an armed home invasion, and Valkyrae, Cinna, and Emiru were harassed and chased by an individual while streaming at Santa Monica Pier.
Sadly, Japanese streamer Airi Sato was fatally stabbed during an altercation with a man who claimed she owed him money.
The rise in such incidents has prompted the FBI to promise to take stronger action against swatting and other similar crimes. In a statement on March 14, the FBI acknowledged the increase in “Swatting incidents” and vowed to crack down on these dangerous actions.
Safety Concerns for Content Creators π₯π
The wave of attacks on popular streamers has raised serious concerns about the safety of influencers, many of whom share their lives with millions of followers online. Chicaβs experience highlights the real-life dangers that come with fame in the streaming world.
We hope that authorities are able to track down the thieves soon, and we continue to send our support to Chica during this unsettling time. π
